Legendary Singer Half Pint to receive an Int'l Reggae & World Music Award

CONGRATS!!!!!!

Half Pint, the man responsible for some of dancehall's most classic melodic tunes, will be honoured this year at the 26 th annual International Reggae and World Music Awards.
The ceremony, which recognizes the best in reggae and world beat music, will be giving the special 'Producer's "Respect" Award' to Jamaican musical stars Half Pint, Gregory Issacs as well as American hip-hop legend Doug E. Fresh.

Half Pint's work with celebrated producer King Jammy helped to usher a lighter, more relaxed approach to dancehall music, with content that was both romantic and socially conscious. Inarguably, his most famous track would be the international hit 'Greetings', which eventually set the tone for the 'ragga' style that was, at that time, taking over Jamaican music.

During his peak, Half Pint also teamed with reggae mainstays Sly and Robbie on several tracks, including the hit "Night Life Lady". As a testament to his influence, rock icons the Rolling Stone's covered one of his earlier tracks 'Winsome' in 1986, under the new title "Too Rude", for their Dirty Work album.
The International Reggae and World Music Awards will be held at the renowned Apollo Theatre in Harlem, New York on May 5, 2007.

Jamaica's hottest dancers John Hype & Ding Gong are friends again

Hi,

This one is HOTTT!!!!

I was at Passa Passa on Thursday morning when Maestro a selector from Swatch International spoke to the all the dancers who have just gotten popular and getting shows plus travelling overseas (Cut out the hype) to live in love and stop fighting against each other. "The dancer wey nuh bad mine go hail John Hype, Unuh mus dance when di music a play and not to fi unuh song wey unuh name a call inna alone". To my surprise Ding Dong left with his entourage the Ravers Clavers and hailed John Hype. THAT WAS SHOCKING!!!!

Minutes later John Hype took the microphone from Maestro and said "Is true mi nuh love chat a last week Ding Dong come link mi a mi yard. A dance mi dance anuh chat mi chat". Then Dancehall Queen Stacey endorsed his statement "John Hype a long time mi yuh Ding Dong inna dis".

Bounty Killa & Movado Endoses DUTTY FRIDAZE

Hi,

Oh boy I had to visit the blazing DUTTY Fridaze again. When I arrived it was about 5am and the streets were packed to capacity. The music selection was the best I heard in a longtime.

Approximately 6am I realized all eyes where turned to one direction when I saw a long dark figure inspected the crowd... it was the Warload aka Bounty Killa. CD Master the selector acknowledge his presence and the crowd cheered at all the Bounty Killers songs that were played.

Within the hour top sound system selector Fire Lynx had the crowd eating out of his hands as he encouraged the audience to not to dabble in homosexual activities and the girls to keep their heads high and not to depend on men for everything.

Foota Hype an Alliance selector continued on the same trend but played all his group members songs and giving praises to the gangsters from the ghetto. He was commended for introducing a new female singer to the dancehall Ishawna who sang two songs that impressed the audience. Moments later CD Master was at the controls again when the crowd rush up one of the streets to meet the man of the moment Movado . The ladies tried to pull him apart but his entourage secured him with a human barricade. Movado took the microphone and had the crowd in a frenzy singing hits after hits and the Killer just endorsed DUTTY FRIDAZE with his hot gangster single 'Bullet Bullet'.

DUTTY FRIDAZESell Offfff again.

See you next time
